Cookies
None. A few small things are remembered in your own browser, and here is exactly what they are.

In short
This site sets no cookies.
It remembers your choices, such as your language and your map, and keeps a few working copies so pages open faster, all in your browser’s own storage.
No banner, because there is nothing here to ask permission for.
Cookies
There are none. Not for advertising, not for counting visitors, not for anything.
Open the storage panel in your browser and the cookie list for this site is empty.
What is remembered
Your language, so a return visit opens in the one you chose rather than asking again.
The map style you picked, and whether 3D relief is on.
A marker set when the construction code is entered, so the gate does not ask on every page while the archive is still being built. It disappears with the gate.
A mark (va.counted) set the first time a page opens, so this browser is counted once as a visitor and never again. The count itself keeps no network address and no identifier, only how many people came each day.
Working copies that save a trip to the server: the list of published events, for ten minutes, and any translation your own browser made of an event.
While you fill in the submission form, what you have typed, so it survives a closed tab. It is cleared once the event is sent or when you start over. Photographs are never kept.
The time of your last submission, so the same event is not sent twice by accident, and whether you have already seen the timeline’s tips.
None of these is sent anywhere. All of them are cleared with your browsing data, after which a visit is counted once more, and a private window keeps none of them between sessions.
Why there is no banner
Consent is what a site needs before storing something on your device for its own purposes, above all for advertising or for following you between sites. Neither happens here.
Each of them exists to do something you asked for or to keep the page working, and the counted mark only stops the site counting you twice. None of them identifies you or follows you anywhere, so a banner in front of them would be a click in your way and nothing more.
The map
The map draws its tiles from a map provider, which is named in the corner of the map itself. Loading a tile shows that provider your network address, the way loading any image from another site does.
It sets no cookie for us and reports nothing back to us. Which provider is used depends on the basemap you pick.
Nothing else loads from elsewhere
No embedded video, no social widget, no typeface from a font service and no advertising script. The one script that comes from elsewhere is the Web Analytics beacon Cloudflare adds to the page, which sets no cookie. Every other file the page needs, the visitor count included, is served from this site.
